WPCA congratulates Claire Terblanche on Proteas Women’s coaching appointment

The Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) congratulates World Sports Betting Western Province Women’s head coach Claire Terblanche andwishes her the best of luck on her appointment as part of the management team of the Proteas Women’s squad for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 in India and South Africa tour to Pakistan.

The 40-year-old has been included in head coach Mandla Mashimbyi’s coaching staff alongside the 16-player squad preparing to represent South Africa at the global showpiece in India, scheduled from Tuesday, 30 September to Sunday, 2 November.

Before travelling to India for the World Cup, the Proteas Women will face Pakistan in a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series in Lahore from Tuesday, 16 to Monday, 22 September.

Terblanche has made her mark in domestic cricket, leading the Western Province Women’s team to a successful season that included lifting the Hollywoodbets Pro20 title and finishing as runners-up in the Hollywoodbets Pro50 last season.

WPCA Chief Executive Officer, Corrie van Zyl, said Terblanche’s appointment was a proud moment for the entire association.

"Claire’s progression to the national team is a clear indicator of the strength of our coaching structures and our commitment to developing women’s cricket at all levels. We are incredibly proud to see one of our own take this significant step onto the international stage. Her strategic insight and leadership will be a tremendous asset for the Proteas."

WPCA President, Johannes Adams, emphasised that Terblanche’s achievement aligns with the broader vision for cricket in the region.

"This appointment is a testament to Claire’s exceptional talent and dedication and it mirrors the Western Province’s role as a cornerstone of South African cricket. We are not just producing players for the national team; we are developing the coaches who

will guide them to future glory. Claire is a pioneer, and her success paves the way for others to follow."

WPCA Cricket Services Manager, Clinton du Preez, extended heartfelt congratulations to the WP Women’s team head coach on her appointment to the Proteas Women’s management team for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
