Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) has praised all the winners at Cricket South Africa (CSA) Awards held at Vodaworld in Midrand last night.
World Sports Betting Western Province Men and Proteas Men batter David Bedingham was a big winner on the night as he walked away with two prestigious awards, after being named the International Men’s Newcomer of the Year and Men’s Test Player of the Year.
Following a fantastic season which included his maiden century in the CSA One Day Cup final against Auto Investments Dragons at World Sports Betting Newlands Cricket Ground which helped his team clinch the trophy after a nine-year drought, World Sports Betting Western Province Men all-rounder Mihlali Mpongwana was named the Division 1 One-Day Cup Player of the Season.
After a successful season the senior women’s team had, winning the CSA T20 Challenge and finishing third place in the 50 over format, World Sports Betting Western Province Women head coach Claire Terblanche walked away with the Women’s Division 1 Coach of the Year award.
The night also saw women’s team rising star Jemma Botha named the CSA Girls Under-19 Player of the Tournament.
Meanwhile Western Province new recruit, Marizanne Kapp walked away with the The Best Delivery Fuelled by KFC with her delivery to Beth Mooney in the match AUS v SA 2nd ODI on 07 February.
WPCA CEO Corrie van Zyl commented: “We are extremely proud of all our WSB Western Province winners at this years CSA Awards. They all put in a huge amount of effort both on and off the field and have been rewarded for their efforts. Well done to all the winners at this year's CSA awards.”
