The Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) has announced the appointment of Rudi Jackson as the new KFC Mini-Cricket Coordinator.

The 42-year-old Jackson assumes his role within the WP Cricket Services Department as KFC Mini-Cricket Coordinator as of 1 August, succeeding Mark Khoabane.

After 11 years in the Cricket Services Department, Khoabane transitioned into his new role as the Hub and Township Cricket Coordinator on 1 June.

The Grassy Park High School graduate brings a wealth of experience in cricket development, having previously served in key roles as Zonal Mini-Cricket Coordinator and Mini-Cricket EXCO Chairperson within Western Province Cricket.

In his two key roles, Jackson was responsible for ensuring child safety, supervising coaches and managing logistics effectively. He played a vital role in implementing WPCA’s Mini-Cricket strategy and contributed to the broader provincial cricket structures. His efforts extended further as he facilitated regular training sessions, provided progress reports to WPCA Mini-Cricket administrators, and mentored new Mini-Cricket volunteers, ensuring they aligned with the programme’s values and safeguarding policies.

In addition, Jackson holds a Cricket South Africa (CSA) Level 2 Coaching qualification and was honoured with the KFC Bucket Loads of Good Award at the CSA Professional Awards for the 2023/24 season.

Cricket Services Manager, Clinton du Preez, commented on Jackson’s appointment, saying: “I would like to warmly welcome Rudi to the team in his new role as the KFC Mini-Cricket Coordinator. Rudi brings a wealth of experience, dedication and passion

for cricket development and I have no doubt that his deep understanding of the program will further strengthen our efforts in growing the game at grassroots level. We look forward to working closely with him and benefiting from his knowledge and leadership.

“In the same breath, I would like to sincerely thank Mark for his valuable service and commitment over the past 11 years in this portfolio. Mark leaves behind big shoes to fill and we wish him continued success in his new role as Hub and Township Cricket Coordinator. We are excited for the future of the program under Rudi’s guidance and remain committed to building on the strong foundation laid by Mark.”
