World Sports Betting Western Province Women’s batter Faye Tunnicliffe is pleased with the team’s pre-season progress, as the Girls in Blue work hard to sharpen their skills in preparation for the 2025/26 season.
Claire Terblanche’s charges have set up their pre-season base at Bellville Technical High School Indoor Centre, braving Cape Town’s cold winter to prepare for the upcoming season.
The key objective and mandate for the Hollywoodbets Pro20 champions is to maintain their top position across all formats in the upcoming season.
Tunnicliffe praised the efforts of the coaches during pre-season, noting that their hard work continues as preparations progress.
“Off-season's been good. The girls are working hard, and I'm excited to get outside, get onto some turf and the indoors are getting a little bit too good for the motivation to be good," said Tunnicliffe.
"A lot of fitness work is going on, and we've been building the base, working really hard at that, so hopefully this season will be a little bit more injury-free. That would be great, and also a lot bigger performance.
"We had a great season last season. The goal is to come away with both trophies, we also want to win a few other trophies too.
Tunnicliffe noted that additional efforts are being made during pre-season to further sharpen the team’s skills, ensuring they are fully prepared and competitive for the challenges of the upcoming season.
“I think off-season, generally, we are indoors quite a lot, really good for the technical work and stuff,” she said.
“But now I think a lot of the girls are looking forward to implementing that outside. We start facing bowlers and stuff like that, so that's going to be good, just implementing those skills.
“I think a lot of what we learned from last season is implementing the game plans in the net. So, we really want to execute properly in the games, going with clear game plans, clear goals in mind. I think if we're all working towards a common goal, then it's inevitable that we should hopefully come out on top.”
The 26-year-old praised the Western Province system, noting that the team boasts a wealth of talented up-and-coming players who can win matches and contributing wholeheartedly to the team’s success.
“We have some good youngsters coming through in our system, like Jae-Leigh (Filander), Jemma (Botha), Kayla (Reyneke). I know this season they're going to contribute wholeheartedly and I'm really looking forward to the end of the season so that they can get all the awards and all the accolades that they deserve,” she adds.
“Our home ground is Newlands and we want to see at least a couple of stands packed out this season.
“Women's cricket is on the rise and you don't want to miss it, so come and support World Sports Betting Worcester Province Women.”
