The Momentum Multiply Titans are champions once more. In a weekend that had everything, rain drama, breathtaking batting and a final to remember as the Sky Blues successfully defended the Dafabet Metro Cup trophy to claim back-to-back titles.

As hosts and defending champions, the Titans carried the weight of expectation from the first ball to the last and they delivered in emphatic fashion.

The 2026 edition of the Dafabet Metro Cup brought together South Africa's four premier domestic sides, the Momentum Multiply Titans, Hollywoodbets Dolphins, the DP World Lions and WSB Western Province for three days of T10 cricket. Having lifted the inaugural

trophy in Durban last year, the Titans returned home as the team to beat and they wasted no time in reminding everyone why.

Their campaign began under difficult circumstances when the opening fixture against the Lions was washed out by rain. Rather than let the match go without a result, the two sides contested a bowl-out and it was the Titans who kept their composure to take the points. It was a nervy start but it set the winning mentality that would carry them through the weekend. That mentality was on full display when the Titans met the Dolphins, producing an 8-wicket victory. Rivaldo Moonsamy announced himself in spectacular fashion, launching 49 off just 23 balls, while Jorich van Schalkwyk provided the perfect foil with a composed 36 off 18 balls, the pair combining to make the chase look effortless.

If the Dolphins match was commanding, what followed against Western Province was nothing short of spectacular. With a place in the final at stake, Moonsamy elevated his game even further, producing one of the knocks of the tournament - 77 off 32 balls that left

supporters in awe. He was matched in brilliance by Divan de Villiers, who blazed his way to 61 off 28 balls in an innings of pure power hitting. Three victories from three outings and the Titans had sealed their place in the final in the most dominant manner possible.

The final, a rematch against Western Province, proved to be the perfect build-up to a magnificent weekend. Titans captain Dayyaan Galiem saved his best for last, striding to the crease and dismantling the bowling attack with a breathtaking 70 off just 19 balls which was a captain's innings in every sense of the word. With the bat, Galiem was unstoppable, with the ball, Duan Jansen was equally devastating. The Titans' strike bowler tore through the Western Province lineup to finish with a superb four wickets, ensuring there was no way back for the Western Province side. When the final ball was bowled, the Dafabet Metro Cup belonged to the Titans once more.

At the end of the tournament, the individual honours were dominated by the Sky Blues.

Galiem was named Player of the Tournament, Moonsamy received the Batter of the Tournament award and Jansen was awarded Bowler of the Tournament.

The Dafabet Metro Cup 2026 was a resounding success, delivering edge-of-your-seat T10 entertainment and a true celebration of domestic cricket at its finest.

A heartfelt thank you to Dafabet as the tournament's proud main sponsor - their commitment and support have been central to making this competition the showpiece event it has become. The Metro Cup is growing from strength to strength and everyone in the cricketing industry is already counting down to the next edition.
