World Sports Betting Western Province Men’s fast bowler Tshepo Moreki has expressed his excitement being back at Newlands Cricket Ground, with preparations for the 2025/26 season now in full swing.
Moreki has returned to the Boys in Blue after a two-year gap having been with the DP World Lions, whom he joined in 2023.
The 31-year-old has rejoined WSB Western Province’s off-season training after a successful tour of West Indies with the South Africa 'A' (SA ‘A’) team.
He has noted being back at Newlands and seeing familiar faces makes him feel right at home.
“I’m happy to be back at Newlands, a place I spent the majority of my cricket career, it’s like a second home,” said Moreki.
“Not many guys left the union since I did but it’s beautiful to see some of the guys that were here when I was playing for the province, and it’s great to see that they are still part of the union.
“I’m really glad to be working with the same guys and also work under Rory (Kleinveldt) as the new coach.”
Moreki believes the goal this season and moving forward is to win and achieve great things as a team.
He says the team is determined to bring home multiple trophies and restore the union to its former glory.
“We want to see the Newlands Faithful coming to the stadiums, filling up the seats and being proud of us, and that can only happen when the team is doing well, which I am confident will happen this season,” Moreki added.
Moreki is enjoying the off-season so far, appreciating the opportunity to train hard and reconnect with his teammates in the Boys in Blue as they gear up for the challenges ahead.
“Other than the weather, the off-season training has been enjoyable, we are getting the fundamentals on the fitness side of things and getting ready for that first game of the season,” he said.
“The team is exciting, we have new additions and young exciting players with a bright future and we are looking to play a good brand of cricket. I’d say come down to Newlands this season and support the team on our quest for the top.”
