The Proteas Ladies team are preparing to jet off to Sri Lanka for an exciting One-Day-International tri-series with Sri Lanka and India next week with a handful of Hollywoodbets Dolphins stars eager to impress.
The gruelling series will see the Proteas play both hosts Sri Lanka and India twice at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo before the top two teams face off in the final on Sunday, 11 May.
Amongst the formidable Proteas squad are three Hollywoodbets Dolphins stars with the established Nonkululeko Mlaba along with the returning Nondumiso Shangase and debutant Seshnie Naidu all included in the 15-player squad for the tour.
Mlaba has become a mainstay in the Proteas set-up and has continued to shine on the international stage with 29 ODI's to her name. She'll relish bowling in the Sri Lankan conditions and against two teams who will be familiar against spin bowling.
Returning to the Proteas side is Shangase. Shangase last featured for the Proteas against England at the end of 2024 in a T20 International. She hasn't played an ODI for South Africa since June last year and will be eager to re-establish herself in the side.
Shangase was a stand-out player for the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in the recent Hollywoodbets Pro50 competition and picked up important wickets for the side along with some important contributions with the bat.
Amongst the debutants in the side is Naidu. The prodigious leg-spinner has made her Proteas debut, against Pakistan in a T20 International last year, and also played in the recent ICC Under-19 Women's World Cup where the Proteas were beaten in the final by India.
Following a long domestic season the players will be looking forward to some international cricket and Hollywoodbets Dolphins head coach Angelique Taai is hopeful the Dolphins players can contribute.
"We are always proud when our players get included in the national side and I am looking forward to seeing how they go in those conditions," Taai said. "It's going to be a great test for all the players in Sri Lanka and they will learn a lot.
"It's an exciting time for our national team and I wish the squad and our Dolphins ladies all the best as they head to the Sub-continent."
