The Hollywoodbets Dolphins Ladies travel to Bloemfontein to face the Knights Women’s side in the Hollywoodbets Pro Series this weekend at the Mangaung Oval.
The Dolphins have been the form team across both the Hollywoodbets Pro50 and Pro20 this season with an unblemished record in both competitions. They have won both Pro20 matches and both Pro50 matches so far this campaign.
The Dolphins will welcome back a few of their Proteas stars who recently featured in the ICC T20 World Cup.
The competition’s second highest wicket taker Nonkululeko Mlaba is included along with Ayanda Hlubi.
The ladies from Durban will once again be tested in different conditions this weekend when they head to the Free State, however coach Angelique Taai isn’t looking at the opposition as the team continues to show they are strong contenders in both competitions.
“We look to improve each and every game no matter who our opposition is,” Taai said. “It is all about improvement for us and taking care of the basics - the result will take care of itself.
“We got the start we wanted and worked for this season, and it is always nice to see the work that has been done in the off-season come to light.
“A standout for me is the improvement in our batting department as well as our seam bowling attack gelling well with our spinners - coming together as one.”
Heading into this weekend’s matches the Dolphins are flying high in both the Pro20 and the Pro50 competitions, however for coach Taai doesn’t feel like her side needs to put any pressure on themselves.
“We don’t feel like there is any pressure on us at the moment because it’s still very early in the season and there is a lot of cricket to be played.
“It’s important that we appreciate that we are on the right track towards the goals that we set ourselves in the off-season.”
For Taai, the approach to each match is a simple one and she hopes that the team will continue to focus on their basics.
“I always say to the team that we need to just trust our process and our preparation because we know how hard we work.
“Our little motto is ‘believe to achieve’,” Taai commented.
