Betway SA20 continues to capture hearts across India, with ‘SA20 India Day 2025’ in Mumbai marking another milestone in the League’s growing global story. The celebration comes just weeks ahead of Season 4 starting on 26 December, setting the stage for a summer of world-class cricket and unmissable entertainment.
Hosted at the Museum of Solutions (MuSo) in Mumbai, the event brought together cricket stars and legends, franchise leaders, media, fans and the League’s broadcast partner JioStar to celebrate Betway SA20’s rise as the biggest T20 league outside India.
Joining the celebrations were League Commissioner Graeme Smith, South African legends and current stars Faf du Plessis (Joburg Super Kings captain), David Miller (Paarl Royals captain), Tom Moody (Super Giants Global Director of Cricket), Hashim Amla (MI Cape Town coach) and legend Mark Boucher.
Adding to the excitement, Tristan Stubbs, Adrian Birrell (Sunrisers Eastern Cape captain and coach) and Sourav Ganguly (Pretoria Capitals head coach) joined the conversations online and reflected on the shared passion that continues to unite South Africa and India through the League.
Now entering its fourth season, Betway SA20 has cemented its place as a powerhouse of global cricket, driven by a blend of world-class international stars such as Kane Williamson, Joe Root, Jos Buttler, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Trent Boult, playing alongside emerging South African talent like Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs, Kwena Maphaka, Ryan Rickelton and strong franchise and broadcast support.

Smith said: “India has been at the heart of Betway SA20’s journey from day one. The support of the IPL-owned teams and our partnership with JioStar have been instrumental in growing the League. The energy and passion from Indian fans inspire us every season, their connection has played a huge role in the League’s growth. As we head into Season 4, we’re excited to build on that connection and keep delivering a League that resonates across South Africa and the subcontinent.”
Du Plessis added: “As players, you can feel the excitement around Betway SA20, in South Africa and here in India. It’s one of the best T20 leagues in the world - competitive, entertaining, and truly global. Seeing fans in India follow the matches, know the franchises and connect with our teams is special. It speaks volumes about what this League has built in such a short time.”
Miller commented: “Betway SA20 has become a league fans can genuinely call their own. Whether you’re in Cape Town, Johannesburg, or Mumbai, you see people cheering for their teams, sharing highlights, and engaging with players. That connection with the fans is the League’s biggest win, it’s what makes cricket a true celebration between nations.”
“Betway SA20 has truly transformed into a League that connects players, fans and franchises across borders. Every season, the quality of cricket continues to rise, and so does the passion surrounding it. What makes SA20 special is its ability to bring together South Africa’s homegrown spirit with the global cricket community, the growing support from India is adding even more connection to that story,” Moody said.
Amla stated: “Beyond the excitement and fandom, SA20 is also about creating pathways for young players to learn, adapt and compete at the highest level. The quality of cricket and exposure this platform provides is phenomenal. You can already see how it’s shaping the next generation of South African talent. The League has truly become a bridge between grassroots potential and global stardom.”
“Indian and South African cricket have always shared a special bond of respect, rivalry and a deep love for the game. Betway SA20 carries that spirit forward, uniting the two cultures to create something truly special,” Boucher concluded.

The day was supported by Wesgro, who, as the event partner, showcased the Western Cape’s diversity, beauty and vibrancy to the global audience. The Betway SA20 Western Cape franchises - MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals - have built strong local followings and enjoy incredible support from the passionate communities, a spirit that makes the region a vibrant part of the League. With the SA20 Final already sold out and set to return to Newlands, Cape Town on 25 January, the global spotlight will be cast on the world’s most iconic cricketing cities as cricket and tourism unite.
Commenting on the partnership, Wrenelle Stander, CEO of Wesgro, said: “We’re excited to partner with Betway SA20 as event partner of SA20 India Day 2025. This collaboration supports our mission to double tourism by unlocking access to new international markets, including India. Recognised as the heartbeat of world cricket and one of the fastest-growing outbound travel markets globally, India remains a key growth market for the Western Cape. Platforms like SA20 provide the perfect opportunity for us to showcase why our province truly is a world in one destination.”
With Season 4 on the horizon, Betway SA20 is set to further solidify its connection with India. Together with the support of its franchises, broadcasters, partners, fans and the media, the League remains committed to making it more appealing, exciting and incredible.
