WPCA welcomes Rondebosch Golf Club as official golf partner of Western Province professional teams

The Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) is delighted to announce a new partnership with Rondebosch Golf Club, which joins as the official golf partner of the Western Province Cricket and includes the professional Men's and Women's teams.

The partnership brings together two of Cape Town's most respected sporting institutions, each of which has played a significant role in shaping the city's rich sporting heritage.

Established more than 120 years ago, Rondebosch Golf Club features a classic parkland layout characterised by tree-lined fairways, compact greens, over 40 bunkers and two rivers – the Black River and Vygekraal River – that meander through the lower half of the course. The site was originally a dairy farm. Like the 138-year-old Newlands Cricket Ground, the club it is nestled in the shadow of Table Mountain. Rondebosch Golf club has long been a favourite among members and visitors alike and continues to uphold a proud tradition of sporting excellence.

WPCA Chief Executive Officer Corrie van Zyl welcomed the partnership: “Cricketers have always loved the game of golf, and this partnership with Rondebosch Golf Club creates a unique opportunity for our players, staff and Board to socialise on a different level. This partnership is more than just recreation – it’s a chance to network, build new relationships, collaborate and meet new people. Together, WPCA and Rondebosch Golf Club can achieve the shared objectives of this partnership, strengthening both communities and advancing both sports.”

The partnership will create opportunities for collaboration, networking and engagement between players, members and other stakeholders, while further strengthening the connection between cricket and golf in the province.

As the professional teams prepare for the 2026/27 season, WPCA looks forward to working closely with Rondebosch Golf Club in creating memorable experiences for players, supporters and partners alike.
