Van Wyk and Sundelson heading for Argentina

GolfRSA has selected reigning GolfRSA No 1 ranked amateur CJ van Wyk and reigning South African Amateur champion Judd Sundelson to represent South Africa during the prestigious 2026 Argentine Swing.

The pair will contest the Juan Carlos Tailhade Cup at Los Lagartos Country Club from 5-8 November before teeing it up in the Argentine Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Tortugas Country Club from 11-14 November.

The annual tour has long formed part of GolfRSA's international player development pathway, providing South Africa's leading amateurs with the opportunity to test themselves against many of the world's best amateur golfers on two of South America's most respected championship courses.

Van Wyk heads to Argentina after another outstanding season that has cemented his position at the top of the GolfRSA Rankings. The Southern Cape golfer has enjoyed another consistent campaign, highlighted by victory in the Northern Amateur and continued success on the national circuit. He also represented South Africa in the victorious All Africa Teams Championship team that successfully defended the continental title earlier this year.

Central Gauteng’s Sundelson joins his GolfRSA National Squad teammate following another impressive season. He captured the South African Amateur Championship title and also played a key role in South Africa's successful defence of the All Africa Teams Championship. Widely regarded as one of the country's brightest young talents, he continues to impress with his composure and ability to perform on the biggest stages.

South African Golf Association President Peet van Schalkwyk believes the pair are ideally suited to continue South Africa's proud tradition in Argentina.

"We are excited to send two outstanding ambassadors for South African amateur golf to Argentina," Van Schalkwyk said.

"CJ has earned his position as the country's top-ranked amateur through remarkable consistency over an extended period. He has continually placed himself in contention, embraced every opportunity to represent South Africa and demonstrated the qualities expected of our leading amateur.

"Judd's journey at university in Scotland was outstanding and his victory in the South African Amateur Championship confirmed his ability to perform under pressure in one of our biggest championships. He combines determination with tremendous talent and has developed into an important member of our national programme.

"Together they complement each other extremely well and we are looking forward to seeing them test themselves against another outstanding international field."

GolfRSA CEO Grant Hepburn said the Argentine Swing continues to play an important role in preparing South Africa's elite amateurs for international competition.

"The Argentine Swing has become an integral part of our high-performance programme and provides exactly the kind of experience our players need as they continue their development," Hepburn said.

"Both events attract world-class fields and demand patience, adaptability and resilience. Competing on unfamiliar courses against elite international opposition is invaluable for players aspiring to succeed at the highest level of amateur golf.

South Africa has built an outstanding record in the Juan Carlos Tailhade Cup. Last year's team of Johndre Ludick and Charl Barnard fought back from a difficult opening round to secure another top-five finish, extending the country's remarkable streak to 11 consecutive top-five finishes in the prestigious team competition.

Following the Tailhade Cup, Van Wyk and Sundelson will remain in Argentina to compete in the Argentine Amateur Stroke Play Championship, another of South America's premier amateur championships that has helped prepare generations of South African internationals for the global stage.
