Titans to face Spica and Young Guns sides in Tri-Team Tournament

Preparations for the 2024/2025 season are set hit their peak at SuperSport Park with the start of the Tri-Team Tournament.

Following the launch of the SuperSport Park International Academy (Spica) and Young Guns Series, the two respective teams will make up the participants of the Tri-Team Tournament along with the Momentum Multiply Titans.

The formation of the tournament serves two primary purposes in, both providing the SPICA academy participants and Young Guns team a highly competitive and professional opposition in the Titans whilst The Sky Blues get additional game time before the start of the 2024/2025 campaign.

The Tri-Team Tournament will take place from 31 August - 8 September with six matches all happening at SuperSport Park across the nine days.

The Spica team is made up of budding talents from South Africa and around the world including 2024 SA Under-19 Cricket World Cup semi-finalists Lhuan-dre Pretorius & Steve Stolk.

Similarly the Young Guns team is stack with talent who will grasp at the opportunity to exhibit their skill against strong opposition.

The Tri-Team Tournament will follow the inaugural the Momentum Health Challenge; which is made up of four teams including Eastern Cape Iinyathi, Eastern Storm, Limpopo Impalas and Northern Cape Heat. They will face off for a place in a final, following which the winner plays against the Momentum Multiply Titans.

The tournament will take the form of a round robin from Monday to Wednesday next week in double-header matches with the top two teams playing each other in a final on Thursday 29 August. The winner of the final will then face the Momentum Multiply Titans.

“It’s an exciting couple of weeks coming up for us and I’m really looking forward to the start of the Momentum Health Challenge and the Tri-Team Tournament,” commented Spica Director, Pierre Joubert.

“It’s been months of hard work and now with the start getting closer we’re thrilled to see the first ball being bowled,” Joubert said.
