Sophy Mashapa will lead a rotated Bulls Daisies side who welcome nosy neighbours, the Golden Lions for the final round-robin match of the 2024 SA Rugby Women’s Premier Division campaign. The Jukskei rivals will square off on Saturday at 2.15pm at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
Tickets start from R 50 and are available only from Ticketpro.
Head coach, Hayden Groepes has opted to rest some of his players whilst also giving game time to those who need match-related fitness ahead of the competition’s knockout games.
“Last weekend’s result versus Province was important for our campaign because it allowed us to give rest to some deserving players who have toiled hard for us and also presents the opportunity for those who have not had much game time to step up as we prepare for knockout rugby.
“We have been clear with our targets and milestones since the beginning of the season and I am confident that as a team we are in a good space, understanding how difficult the job before us will be but equally excited that we get to prove our skillset once more. It should be another exciting game of rugby come Saturday.”
Groepes has shuffled his front row, starting Sanelisiwe Charlie alongside Micke Günter and Lebogang Ralebona with a new lock pairing of Ziyanda Ngohlekana and Sinelitha Noxeke behind them. Glenda Baloyi and Faith Tshauke combined at flank with Mashapa at No 8.
Seasoned campaigner, Rumandi Potgieter links up with Unam Tose as the halfback pairing of the day.
At the back, Unathi Mali starts at left wing with Relebuhile Motaung on the right side of the park and Lynn Subke called up to marshal proceedings from fullback with Chumisa Qawe and Naima Hlatshwayo linking up at centre.
The Daisies will have fresh legs in the form of Doreen Mkhabele, Yonela Ngxingolo, Xolelwa Diliza, Ivanche Gerritsen, Anathi Qolo, Mahlatse Nkumishe, Patience Mokone and Zintle Nonkasana, who make up the five-three split bench.
