Iinyathi upset Dragons in KuGompo

Eastern Cape Iinyathi successfully defended 151 runs to claim a 13-run victory over North West Dragons in the YesPlay Pro20 Cup at Buffalo Park in KuGompo City on Monday.

After being asked to bat first, Iinyathi made steady progress throughout their innings to end on 151/4 from their allotted 20 overs.

Jason Niemand top-scored with a composed 44 off 32 balls, while Jerome Bossr contributed 33 off 28.

Michael Copeland gave the innings a timely boost, remaining unbeaten on 29.

In reply, the Dragons' chase was built around a superb innings from Ludwich Schuld, who struck 80 off just 51 balls.

Schuld and Diego Rosier (33) put Dragons in a strong position but Iinyathi fought back after Rosier's dismissal in the 14th over.

Schuld followed shortly afterwards, triggering a collapse that saw Dragons lose six wickets for 46 runs.

Sithembile Langa led the charge with the ball, claiming an impressive 3/18 from his four overs, while Kgaudise Molefe produced an outstanding spell of 4/17 to dismantle Dragons' lower order.

Dragons reached 138/9 after their 20 overs, leaving Iinyathi with a 13-run victory and another important result in the competition.

The action continues on Tuesday with another packed day of YesPlay Pro20 Cup cricket.

CSA High Performance team will take on Tuskers at Tuks Oval from 1pm, followed by Dafabet Warriors against Wenbro Impalas at the Nelson Mandela University Main Oval at 2pm.

The day will conclude under lights when Dafabet Boland host the Flexbrands Knights at Boland Park from 6pm.
