In a demonstration of the strong rugby partnership between the Toyota Cheetahs and Ospreys, the Cheetahs are delighted to announce the arrival of four talented Osprey players in Bloemfontein. They will be joining the Toyota Cheetahs on a short-term loan, bolstering the squad for the upcoming weeks and making themselves available to play for the Toyota Cheetahs in the SA Cup.

The quartet comprises Tristan Davies (back row/lock), Lewis Rhys Jones (second row), Will Hickey (back row) and Cameron Jones (loosehead prop), all of whom bring unique skills and experience to the team.

“This collaboration exemplifies the spirit of cooperation and mutual support that defines our partnership with Ospreys,” says Ross van Reenen, CEO of the Toyota Cheetahs. “By sharing talent and resources, we strengthen both our clubs and enrich the rugby experience for players and fans alike.”

This exchange, initiated in late 2023, has already proven fruitful. Previously, Cheetah players Dan Kasende, Marnus van der Merwe and Rewan Kruger ventured to Wales. Evardi Boshoff, Jeandré Rudolph and captain Victor Sekekete joined the Ospreys in February.

Rudolph and Sekekete have returned in time for our recent EPCR Challenge Cup Round of 16 match against Clermont in France, while Boshoff remains in Wales until the end of May.

This arrangement benefits both clubs immensely, strengthening our bond and enhancing the depth of talent available to both the Cheetahs and Ospreys. It’s truly a win-win scenario for all involved.
