The YesPlay Cobras Women are preparing for an important weekend in the Hollywoodbets Pro Series as they take on Fidelity Titans Women at TUT Oval in Centurion, with the Pro50 scheduled for Saturday followed by the Pro20 on Sunday (both matches start at 10am).

The Girls in Blue head into the weekend looking to build on the positives from their previous weekend against the DP World Lions, where they secured a T20 victory but suffered a defeat in the 50-over format.

Captain Leah Jones described the weekend as one of mixed emotions, with the team showing resilience to secure the shorter-format win despite a challenging start.“It was a weekend of mixed emotions. The T20 didn’t start the way we wanted it to but in the end, we were very pleased to secure the victory, which showed the team's character and fighting spirit,” said Jones.

“The 50-over loss was disappointing, but there were positives to take from both matches. As a team, we know consistency is key and that's something we're working towards.”

Reflecting on the lessons from the 50-over defeat, Jones highlighted the importance of maintaining intensity and making better decisions during crucial stages of the game.

“The biggest lesson is the importance of maintaining our intensity and executing our plans throughout the full 50 overs,” she explained.

“We need to make better decisions in key moments, build stronger partnerships and capitalise on opportunities when they come. It's about learning quickly and coming back stronger.”

Preparations for the Titans encounter have focused on addressing those areas while strengthening the team's overall execution.

Jones says the squad is approaching the challenge with renewed focus and confidence.

“Our preparation has been focused and purposeful. We've reflected on the Lions matches, identified areas for improvement and worked on sharpening our skills. There's been a strong emphasis on discipline and playing to our strengths. The energy in the camp is positive, and we're looking forward to the challenge,” she said.

For the YesPlay Cobras, getting the fundamentals right across both formats will be crucial to their chances of securing positive results against the Titans.

“For us, it's about getting the basics right and playing consistent cricket. We need to execute our plans with both bat and ball, remain disciplined in the field and support one another throughout the match. If we play with confidence, intensity and unity, we give ourselves the best opportunity to succeed,” added Jones.

With two formats offering fresh opportunities, the YesPlay Cobras will be eager to deliver a consistent performance and return from Centurion with positive results.

Meanwhile, the YesPlay Cobras Men will be looking to continue their winning run when they take on the Kaneez Tuskers in the YesPlay Pro20 Super 8 competition at Pietermaritzburg Oval on Sunday at 1pm.

The Boys In Blue head into the encounter with confidence after winning four of their five matches and pacer Tshepo Moreki says the team is determined to build on the positive performances that have put them in a strong position.

“We are extremely confident and desperate to just keep on building on the good things we’ve been doing,” said Moreki.

Rory Kleinveldt-coached side has focused on keeping its approach simple while maintaining an aggressive mindset with both ball and bat.

“We kept everything quite simple with ball in hand and looked to stay aggressive with the bat,” he explained.

With the Super 8 stage presenting another important challenge, the team has continued working on key areas of its game, with particular attention to execution in crucial moments.

“We have been sharpening up on a few specific skills like death bowling and fielding,” Moreki said.

The YesPlay Cobras expect a competitive contest against the Kaneez Tuskers, where energy, discipline and limiting mistakes could prove decisive.

“We expect lots of energy and discipline, and it could come down to the team that makes the fewest mistakes,” he added.

Moreki also stressed the importance of sustaining the team's current form as the competition progresses.

“Momentum is everything in sport and to maintain it is crucial,” he said.

The YesPlay Newlands-based side will be eager to carry that momentum into Sunday's clash, with Moreki confident that the team is ready for the challenge.

“They can expect an excited team, keen on keeping the winning streak going and a team that’s up for the fight,” he concluded.

With valuable Super 8 points at stake, the Cobras will be determined to deliver another disciplined performance and keep their winning ambitions firmly on track.
