WSB Western Province will have their sights set on backing up their Hollywoodbets Pro20 victory from Friday night with a Hollywoodbets Pro50 victory over the defending champions, DP World Lions, at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in Durban on Sunday.
World Sports Betting Western Province beat the Lions by four wickets in a low-scoring final on Friday night and will want to make it a clean sweep on Sunday.
Western Province captain Leah Jones feels that her side are ready to fight it out for more silverware on Sunday.
“I think the team is in a really good space. Everyone is excited to get going," Jones said. “We’ve worked really hard to get to this point. It was one of our goals at the beginning of the season and everyone is really looking forward to the weekend and hopefully we can put on a good show.”
With one final done, Jones reflects on how far the women's game has come in South Africa.
“It’s really nice that the game has become professional. It helps the players focus a lot more on their cricket, which is something we all love doing.
“You’re earning something on the side and getting an income while doing something you enjoy and not everyone can say that.
“I think the support from sponsors coming on board also shows the massive backing that women’s cricket has in South Africa and how much the game has grown.
“It’s really encouraging and hopefully it continues to grow even more in the future.”
Province has retained their T20 title while also pushing for victory in the 50-over showpiece.
The two sides will meet again in the Hollywoodbets Pro50 final, with both teams among the standout performers in the longer white-ball competition.
One of the highlights of Western Province’s season came when they edged the Lions in a dramatic two-wicket victory earlier in the campaign while chasing 182, a result that demonstrated the side’s ability to perform under pressure and close out tight matches.
Province’s run to finals weekend has been built on strong contributions from across the squad. The batting unit has produced several crucial innings throughout the season, setting competitive totals and executing successful chases, while the bowling attack has consistently applied pressure with disciplined spells in both formats.
That balance has been central to Western Province remaining among the leading teams in the domestic competitions and earning the opportunity to contest both titles this weekend.
The Cape side will take confidence from their own performances during the season as well as their previous victory over the Johannesburg-based outfit.
They’ll will be determined to finish their campaign strongly as they look to add the Pro50 title to their list of achievements in what promises to be a Sunday of women’s cricket.
The Hollywoodbets Pro Series finals will be live on SuperSport Events Channel 199.
