Professional golfer and BooYaa Golf ambassador Daniel van Tonder will tee off at The 153rd Open Championship, held at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland from 13-20 July. Van Tonder will not only make a return to one of golf’s biggest stages but he will also have the opportunity to showcase South African talent, grit and homegrown apparel on the world stage.

“I am proudly South African and proud to carry a South African-made brand like BooYaa onto the world stage,” says Van Tonder. “For me, it is not just about playing golf. It is also about living it.”

This year’s Open will mark the start of a seven-week global competitive swing for Van Tonder, who departs this Saturday with his wife and caddie, Abigail. A familiar and formidable presence on tour, Abigail returns to the bag after time off for an injury and pregnancy. Their partnership on and off the course is a defining element of Van Tonder’s game.

He has been sharpening that game at Serengeti Golf & Lifestyle Estate, where he practices up to three times a week. For Van Tonder, consistency, confidence and being calm under pressure are key. “I can handle pressure quite well,” he says. “I never struggle with pressure. In fact, the more pressure there is, the better I play.”

His goals for The Open? “I want to enjoy myself, play well and do my best. I have not competed in a while, so it would be nice to come in at the top 10.”

Even on the tough days, Van Tonder stays grounded. “Tough days never last, only hard people do.”

As an ambassador for BooYaa Golf, Van Tonder takes more than just his clubs to Royal Portrush. He carries the bold attitude and premium performance that define the proudly South African golf brand.

“Daniel represents everything BooYaa stands for,” says Ruan Lotz, co-founder of BooYaa Golf. “He plays hard, lives loud and shows up with confidence, no matter the stage. Watching him compete in The Open wearing BooYaa gear is a huge moment for us as a brand.”

As the world tunes in to golf’s oldest Major, Van Tonder is ready to make his mark - one swing, one round, one statement at a time.

This isn’t just golf. This is BooYaa.
