
The Annual North West Cricket Awards ceremony, held at Rio Hotel in Klerksdorp on Saturday showcased the exceptional talent and achievements of cricket players and officials from across the province.
Among the notable highlights of the evening, the following top recipients demonstrated exemplary commitment to the game and the hope is that their achievements will inspire others to keep performing and to one day reach greater heights in cricket.
Diedre van Rensburg and Estiaan Schonfeldt were the biggest winners of the night.
Van Rensburg walked away with the following awards: NW U19 Elriesa Fourie Girls Player at CSA National Week, Glencore Dragon’s Women’s T20 Batter of the Year, Glencore Dragon’s Women’s ODD Batter of the Year, Glencore Dragon’s Women’s Player of the Year and she was also selected to be part of the SA Schools Under-19 side.
Schonfeldt was named Men’s Premier A T20 League Batter of the year: (Impala CC). Men’s Premier A T20 League Player of the year: (Impala CC), NW Rural Batter of the year: (Impala CC) and NW Rural Player of the year: (Impala CC).

Migael Pretorius of the North West Dragons Men’s Professional Team also performed extremely well this season and walked away with the Dragon’s Men’s 4-Day Player of the Year as well as the Dragon’s Men’s Player’s Player of the Year while Rubin Hermann won the Auto Investments Dragon’s Men’s T20 Player of the Year and Raynard van Tonder took home the NWU Dragon’s Men’s ODD Player of the Year award.
A special Lifetime Achievement award was awarded to Kevin Smithers of Ramblers CC in Vryburg. Smithers has been involved in cricket development for over 50 years and was the chairman of the Ramblers CC for many of years. NWC thanks Smithers for his selfless contribution toward cricket development.
