The ACDC Express Tuskers are set to face Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers on Wednesday at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn, coming off the back of two consecutive wins in the T20 Knockout.
Tuskers, who were relegated from Division 1 last season, have adopted a fresh and positive mindset as they look to build on their early success.
Speaking ahead of the match, Tuskers captain, Michael Erlank, emphasised the importance of starting the season on a high note.
"It's always nice to start off the season with a couple of wins, it just eases the nerves and gets everyone really fired up for the competition.
"The team has adopted a very positive mindset, and we’re looking to keep things nice and simple. We have trained exceptionally well this off-season, focusing specifically on how we want to play as a team and as individuals. We are trying to remain focused on the goal in front of us.
"We have a lot of new guys in our squad, which contributes to our growth because it brings a lot of positivity into everything we do. The roles of senior and younger players remain simple: understand your skills, follow your plans and execute them. We trust and back each player to play to their strengths,” Erlank added.
The Tuskers have taken lessons from their time in Division 1, particularly the need for consistency.
"We see past setbacks as a lesson and something to keep us motivated. The lessons learned from Division 1 are the consistency and intensity at which the game is played. We’re trying to play at that same level and it has helped a lot with the sharpness and decision-making in the team.
"We’re going to keep improving and doing what has worked so far, trusting the plans we have to get us where we want to be. Our focus is to try and win the next game. Every game is nearly a knockout, so we’re focusing on what is needed to win," said Erlank
