As the professional women’s domestic cricket season draws to a close, the Fidelity Titans Ladies Cricket Team is gearing up for their final clash against WSB Western Province in both the 50-over fixture and the CSA T20 Challenge this weekend in Cape Town.
Throughout the season, the Titans have showcased resilience and determination, holding their ground at fourth on the T20 Challenge and the 50-over format log. A key driving force behind their success has been the outstanding performance of our two Proteas players, Masabata Klaas and Anneke Bosch.
Bosch has been in formidable form, securing four half-centuries in the sky blue kit, while Klaas has made significant contributions with both bat and ball, notching up her own half-century and claiming numerous wickets for the team. Notably, the captain of the Fidelity Titans, Robyn Searle, has been a standout performer with the bat, securing five half-centuries this season.
Reflecting on their upcoming final games this weekend and the season, Searle said: "As we gear up for our last matches, it's a moment of mixed emotions. We've poured our hearts into every game this season, overcoming challenges and celebrating victories together as a team. While it's bittersweet that the journey is coming to an end, I'm immensely proud of what we've achieved. We've grown stronger with each match and I have no doubt that we'll give it our all on the field this weekend. It's been an unforgettable season, and we're determined to finish it on a high note."
The season has also been marked by significant milestones, with the Daisy Ladies playing their first televised game at SuperSport Park in March. This signals a positive shift in the landscape of women's cricket, showcasing the growing recognition and support for the women's game.
Fidelity Titans head coach Byron Fraser had this to say: "As we approach the conclusion of our season, I couldn't be prouder of the dedication and resilience shown by our players. Each member of the team has contributed to our successes, pushing themselves to new heights and as we prepare for our last game, we're focused on finishing strong and leaving everything on the field.”
The Daisy Ladies will play their second televised T20 game on Saturday and are eager to leave a lasting impression and close off the season on a high note.
