South Africa’s top figure skaters set to shine at SAFSA National Championships 2025

The South African Figure Skating Association (SAFSA), in partnership with the Central Gauteng Figure Skating Association, is proud to announce that the SAFSA National Championships 2025 will take place from Saturday, 3 May to Tuesday, 6 May at the Forest Hill Ice Arena in Centurion, Gauteng.

This premier event on the national figure skating calendar will see South Africa’s top athletes compete across a wide range of categories, including Juvenile, Novice, Junior, and Senior Singles, as well as Ice Dance, Pairs and Synchronised Skating. With participation open to qualified skaters from across the country, the championships represent the pinnacle of competitive figure skating in South Africa. SAFSA and its affiliates promote and develop all the different disciplines in Figure Skating that include Singles Skating, Ice Dance (Couples and Solo), Pairs Skating and Synchronised Skating.


The event will feature 91 qualified skaters across four disciplines representing three provincial bodies, with standout athletes competing in:

  • Singles Skating

  • Ice Dance Skating - Solo

  • Ice Dance Skating – Couples

  • Pairs Skating

  • Synchronised Skating


Among the top skaters to watch are:

  • Senior Solo Ice Dance: Donatella Glatter, Courtney Kuhn and Megan Timmerman

  • Senior Pairs: Julia Mauder and Johann Wilkinson

  • Junior Men: Cody Cock

  • Junior Women: Teagan Botha, Jasmine Coetzee, India Maclare, Maria Navarro Brito, Ella Hawkes, Tindra Langa and Haley-Rae Thomson

  • Senior Women: Gian Quen Isaacs


The Local Organising Committee (LOC), chaired by Judy Goodall, has issued a call for sponsors and advertisers to partner with SAFSA in making this event a resounding success.

"The SAFSA National Championships are a celebration of athletic excellence, artistry and the dedication of our skating community," says Goodall. "We invite brands and businesses to join us as partners in showcasing South Africa’s talent on the ice while benefiting from high-visibility advertising and sponsorship opportunities."


Advertising and sponsorship opportunities

Businesses and supporters of the sport are invited to take advantage of the following packages:

  • Barrier advertising (R4 000): Advertising on the inside barrier of the ice rink for the duration of the competition (2400mm x 1000mm).

  • Programme and Web site advertising (R2 000): Placement in the official event program and on the competition Web site.

  • Combined package (R5 000): A value bundle including both barrier and program/website advertising.


Naming rights and official sponsorship

  • Premium sponsors can also apply for naming rights and official sponsor status, which include:

  • Logo placement on signage, promotional materials and media coverage.

  • VIP access and branding visibility throughout the venue.

  • Inclusion in all SAFSA communications, social media campaigns and press releases.

  • Display space at the event and recognition as a community supporter.

Media and public engagement

  • Media attendance and accreditation requests can be submitted to: npro@safsa.org.za.

  • Results will be published on www.safsa.org.za, with updates available on SAFSA's social media channels.

The Forest Hill Ice Arena, one of Gauteng’s premier skating facilities, will host athletes, officials and supporters from across the country. With an exciting lineup of competition and celebration, the SAFSA National Championships 2025 promises to be a showcase of rising stars, technical mastery and the continued growth of figure skating in South Africa.

Spectators are welcome to attend the event. Tickets will be available on Quicket at R55 per session or R130 for a season ticket (covering all three sessions). Children under seven enter for free.
