The Hollywood Foundation Pumas Women secured another big win in the Pick n Pay Women’s Super League 2 on Saturday, with their 50-0 victory over the Limpopo Blue Bulls Women consolidating their place at the top of the standings after four rounds of rugby.

The defending champions’ eight try romp delivered another full house of log points, who are sitting pretty with 20 points after four rounds.

Elsewhere, AVBOB Griquas Women (11 log points) moved into second spot by beating the Valke Women by 41-26 in Kimberley, while the SWD Eagirls (10 log points) also notched up a half century in their 50-19 victory over the Griffons Women in Welkom, and are now third on the standings.

It was a one-sided affair at Nelspruit Rugby Club as the Pumas were just too slick and clinical for their northern neighbours, who are stuck at the bottom of the log and winless after four matches.

The Pumas were slow out of the blocks, scoring only three unanswered tries in the first half, but they pulled away after the break, adding five more tries, much to the delight of the crowd.

The team from Mpumalanga’s backline again ran amok, with Megan Guambe scoring yet another brace, which has seen her total tally move up to 44 points and eight tries in four matches.

The Griffons scored first against the Eagirls in Welkom but the visitors replied with two touch downs of their own in the Down Touch Investments Stadium to take the lead, one they never surrendered.

A second Griffons try at the end of the first half reduced the deficit to 21-14 at the break, but it became one way traffic in the second half. The Eagirls found their momentum and synergy, with both wings, Chante Jonck and Mia-Lee Matiwane, dotting down three times each.

Attack held sway at the Suzuki Stadium in Kimberley, where the AVBOB Griquas Women overcame a determined Valke side. Three quick tries by the home side had them in control but the visitors came back with two of their own to make it a contest at the break (22-12).

The second half was an outstanding one for Griquas. They were awarded a penalty try early in the half and wing Maserati Bangaza got a double as they proved too strong for a gutsy Valke.
