The Vodacom Bulls have shuffled their team for this Saturday’s critical Investec Champions Cup encounter against Glasgow, making several tactical adjustments to the side that faced Munster last week.
The most significant changes occur in the backline, where the versatile David Kriel moves from the bench into the starting XV to take over the No 15 jersey. This shift sees the veteran Willie le Roux move to the replacements, from where he is expected to provide his trademark tactical vision in the latter stages of the match. Canan Moodie also shifts back to his primary role at outside centre, allowing Cheswill Jooste to step into the starting right-wing berth after featuring as a substitute last weekend. Consequently, Stedman Gans moves to the bench to provide cover.
In the pack, there is a notable change to the back row. Explosive young talent Cameron Hanekom is promoted to the starting line-up at No 8, providing the Bulls with additional frontline physicality and breakdown presence. He replaces the experienced Nizaam Carr, who is injured.
The replacements bench also features fresh energy, with Mornay Smith replacing Khuta Mchunu as the backup prop, while Jeandré Rudolph is there to provide specialised loose-forward cover.
Despite these rotations, the core of the team remains consistent. The Springbok halfback pairing of Handré Pollard and Embrose Papier retains control of the game’s tempo, while Marcell Coetzee once again leads the side from the front in what is anticipated to be a gruelling physical contest at Scotstoun.
Vodacom Bulls starting XV: 15 David Kriel, 14 Cheswill Jooste, 13 Canan Moodie, 12 Harold Vorster, 11 Kurt-Lee Arendse; 10 Handre Pollard, 9 Embrose Papier; 8 Cameron Hanekom, 7 Elrigh Louw, 6 Marcell Coetzee (capt); 5 Ruan Nortje, 4 Ruan Vermaak; 3 Francois Klopper, 2 Johan Grobbelaar, 1 Gerhard Steenekamp. Replacements: 16 Marco van Staden, 17 Jan-Hendrik Wessels, 18 Mornay Smith, 19 Cobus Wiese, 20 Jeandre Rudolph, 21 Zak Burger, 22 Stedman Gans, 23 Willie le Roux.
