With 11 points from their last three matches, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins are turning their CSA T20 Challenge fortunes around as they head to Pretoria to face the Momentum Multiply Titans on Wednesday (6pm).
Unfortunately, the Dolphins’ last home match on Sunday against the Auto Investment North West Dragons was rained out with both sides receiving two points for their efforts.
The Dolphins had built some good momentum going into that match with an emphatic bonus point win in Paarl against the Gbets Rocks on Friday night. They also would have felt that they were on top of their opponents on Sunday before the rain put an end to the fixture.
“The boys are in a good space at the moment and we’ve found a nice rhythm to the way that we are playing currently,” Hollywoodbets Dolphins assistant coach Quinton Friend said.
“It was disappointing not the get a result on Sunday because I thought that we had set the game up really nicely from a bowling perspective but you can’t control that we must just focus on the next game.”
As it stands the Dolphins are ahead of the Titans on the table, however the Titans have a game in hand over the Durban side. Their trip to the nation’s capitals will be the first of two matches this week, before they head to Gqeberha to face the Rocks on Sunday in a T20 Challenge double-header.
“We are happy with how we are going but we know that it’s important that we continue to focus on our next match and keep ourselves grounded.
“Our focus has been on ourselves and how we can get better and looking towards our match on Wednesday we know that the Titans are an impressive side.
“They’ve been very successful in the T20 format for a long time and it’s another big opportunity to get a victory on the road.
“We’ve put a lot of importance on winning away from home because if you want to get into the play-offs and win a competition like this you have to be able to win on the road.”
Heading to Pretoria, the Dolphins will be eager to continue their winning streak in the competition and for Friend it’s going to be an important stepping stone towards making the play-offs.
“Our main focus at the moment is on what we as a team can do better and hopefully, we can leave SuperSport Park with a victory on Wednesday.
“The bowling unit has been superb throughout the competition and the batting unit is starting to come into their own which is hugely encouraging.
“Our openers have played some important innings for us in the last two games, and they have given our batting line-up a big boost.
“It’s going to be another exciting showdown between two good teams on Wednesday and let’s hope we can come out on the right side of the result,” Friend commented.
Wednesday’s match will be a repeat of the 2022/23 CSA T20 Challenge final where the Sky Blues came out on top against the Dolphins and the visiting side will be eager to set the record straight this week.
