World Sports Betting Western Province Men captain Daniel Smith has expressed excitement ahead of the second edition of the Metro T10 Cup, set to take place at SuperSport Park in Pretoria this weekend.
The off-season tournament will feature four teams in what promises to be a fast-paced and highly competitive showcase of talent.
WSB Western Province will begin their campaign against Hollywoodbets Dolphins on Friday at 3pm, before taking on DP World Lions on Saturday morning at 9.30am. They will then face the hosts, Momentum Multiply Titans, later that afternoon at 1.30pm.
Smith highlighted the importance of the tournament for the squad, particularly with a blend of youth and emerging talent set to take the field.
“Really exciting, we’ve got a really nice youthful squad to take up there, which is really exciting. The boys have the opportunity to put in some good performances and end off the season nice and strong as a group,” said Smith.
“It’s massive, it’s such a fun tournament. We’ve already done one of them in Durban and it was held really well. Very professional and hopefully it can build in years to come and it can become a nice big tournament in South Africa for the four teams.”
With a packed schedule and strong opposition, all eyes will be on SuperSport Park this weekend as WSB Western Province will be aiming to make a strong statement and carry their momentum into the new season.
“We’re here for the win, we’re going to try our best,” added Smith. “We’ve got an exciting group of guys so hopefully we can win at the end of the competition.”

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins head into this weekend’s second edition of the Metro T10 Cup at SuperSport Park in Centurion with confidence and excitement, as they look to build on a promising showing in last season’s edition.
Dolphins head coach Quinton Friend believes the format brings out the best in players, with its high-intensity, shortened nature demanding immediate impact.
“It’s a really exciting format, similar to T20 but obviously played in half the time. The guys always enjoy that kind of challenge and there’s a great buzz around the squad heading into the tournament,” Friend said.
The Dolphins impressed with a youthful squad in the previous edition, a performance that has laid a strong foundation for this year’s campaign.
“Last year was a strong showing from a very young group. The players did really well and we saw some standout performances throughout the tournament. That gives us a lot of confidence going into this year.”
Following a short break after the domestic season, the squad has returned refreshed and ready, with preparation tailored specifically for the demands of T10 cricket.
“The guys have had a good break but they’ve come back in great shape. We’ve spent time sharpening up on skills specific to T10 cricket and the energy in the camp has been excellent. You wouldn’t think they’ve been away,” Friend added.
“T10 is similar to T20 but everything happens much quicker. You’ve got to be proactive from the start and have clear plans in place. We’ve done our homework, looked at trends from T10 competitions around the world and identified key areas we want to focus on.”
The Dolphins squad features an exciting blend of youth and experience, with several emerging players eager to make their mark alongside established campaigners.
“It’s an exciting group. We’ve got some talented young players coming through, and they’re supported by a core of more experienced guys. It’s a really good mix and the guys are hungry to get going.”
With the competition condensed into a single weekend, consistency will be key for any side hoping to lift the trophy.
“It’s a short tournament, so consistency is crucial. If we can play good cricket throughout the weekend, we’ll give ourselves a chance to be in the mix and hopefully go one step further this time,” Friend concluded.
