Glasgow Warriors hooker Johnny Matthews and Munster Rugby’s Shane Daly are the latest players to win a 2023/24 United Rugby Championship Award, having been named OFX Top Try-Scorer and Ironman winners, respectively.

Matthews crossed the whitewash 14 times following a remarkable season for the hooker.

Daly, meanwhile, started all 18 games for Munster in the regular season, racking up 1 430 minutes to become the URC Ironman this season.

The pair join Alessandro Izekor, Jamie Ritchie and Chris Smith, who on Tuesdayday picked up the Tackle Machine, Turnover King, and Gilbert Golden Boot awards, respectively.

OFX Top Try Scorer: Johnny Matthews (Glasgow Warriors) ­– 14 tries

Matthews finished the regular season with an astonishing 14 tries to his name, finishing ahead of two Vodacom Bulls players.

Fellow hooker Akker van der Merwe bagged 12 tries in second place with teammate David Kriel just behind him on 10 tries.

URC Ironman Award: Shane Daly (Munster Rugby) – 1 430 minutes

Munster utility back Shane Daly takes home the award which recognises the player who has racked up the most minutes over the 18 rounds of the URC.

He is the only Irish provincial player to start in all 18 rounds of the URC.

He finished ahead of former teammate Ben Healy, who racked up 1 421 minutes in his first season for Edinburgh Rugby and Emirates Lions fullback Quane Horn, who played 1 359 minutes for the South African side.
