Durban’s Super Giants Kwena Maphaka has called on the Kingsmead faithful to come out in their numbers when they face Pretoria Capitals in the Betway SA20 clash on Wednesday.

It has been a frustrating campaign thus far for DSG with two of their four matches being abandoned to the weather. But Maphaka feels that if they can get out on the park, they have enough quality within their ranks to royally entertain the loyal Super Giants fans.

“Yeah, I think it's been pretty difficult with the rain and all the weather around in Durban and in Joburg, unfortunately for us. But I think the main thing for us is just to keep on trying to win and put ourselves in a good position,” the teenage fast bowler said.

“They came out in numbers. So, my message to the fans would be just to keep coming out and we'll definitely try and put through some really good performances for you guys.

“Momentum is massive in tournaments like this, so if we can get some momentum going into the back end of the tournament, I think we could be really dangerous.”

Capitals will also be looking to bounce back after a crushing home defeat to Sunrisers Eastern Cape a couple of days ago at Centurion in a bid to stay in the race to the playoffs.

Opener Connor Esterhuizen has called for an improvement in all facets of the game if they are to claim a first win at Kingsmead since the opening season.

“I think our fielding itself needs to improve. And then I think we can be so much better with the bat, with what we've got in the shed,” said Esterhuizen.

“We can be a lot better with the bat, and then I think we can also be better with the ball. So, I think just to raise our overall level as a team is needed for the next couple of games.”

DSG have a couple of squad changes with England allrounder Liam Livingstone and West Indian mystery spinner Sunil Narine joining the squad, while Devon Conway has returned to New Zealand for international duty.

The teams are currently separated by a single point with DSG just edging out the Capitals in fourth place.
