The Fidelity Titans completed a dominant 211-run victory over the DP World Lions in the Hollywoodbets Pro50 Series in Centurion on Saturday, following outstanding displays from Suné Luus and Caitlin Wyngaard with the bat and ball, respectively.

Luus struck a bullish 167* off 131 balls, including 21 fours and four sixes, alongside knocks from Laura Wolvaardt (57 off 58 balls; 8x4, 2x6) and Luyanda Nzuza (59 off 87 balls; 8x4), to help the home side post a formidable 330/3 in their 50 overs.

Wyngaard backed up her team’s batting performance with her maiden List A five-wicket haul, claiming figures of 5/19 in five overs to help dismiss the Lions for 119 all out after 28.2 overs.

The Lions won the toss and opted to bowl first on a sunny day at SuperSport Park. Ayabonga Khaka (1/51) grabbed the early wicket of Tebogo Macheke (3) before the experienced pair of Wolvaardt and Luus put on 103 runs for the second wicket.

Raisibe Ntozakhe (1/50) broke the stand in the 19th over, completing a caught and bowled to remove Wolvaardt and leave the hosts on 110/2.

With Luus still at the crease, the Titans continued to assert themselves. Luus teamed up with Nzuza for another key partnership worth 143 runs, with Luus going on to reach her hundred while Nzuza brought up her first List A half-century.

Despite the wicket of Nzuza off the bowling of Madison Landsman (1/58) in the 44th over, Luus marched on to raise her bat again for 150, propelling the Titans to 330/3 thanks to a destructive 77-run fourth-wicket stand with skipper Anneke Bosch (27).

In the Lions’ chase, the visitors got off to a solid start through openers Razeena Manack (34) and Tazmin Brits (28), combining for a 67-run stand before Brits and Landsman (0) fell to Wyngaard off consecutive deliveries in the 13th over.

Those breakthroughs led to more joy for the Titans, as Wyngaard picked up her third and fourth scalps of the day on either side of a wicket for Angel Mngwenya (1/23), leaving the Lions reeling on 80/5 in the 17th over.

Despite contributions from Sunette Viljoen-Louw (17) and Ntozakhe (12), Wyngaard completed her five-for before two wickets apiece from Nzuza (2/13) and Paulinah Mashishi (2/16) helped the Titans seal an emphatic victory.

The two sides will lock horns again on Sunday in the Hollywoodbets Pro20 Series at SuperSport Park in Centurion. All the action will be streamed live on Cricket South Africa’s YouTube page.
