The KwaZulu-Natal Inland Cricket Union hosted their Annual General Meeting recently and Goolam Amod was elected as the new president of the union along with a few other changes.
Amod will come in as the new president replacing the outgoing Scott Hosking while there were a few other appointments to board. The three new non-independent directors are Lucky Dladla, Mondli Ndlovu and Robbie Coutts. The two Independent Directors elected at the AGM are Susan Ramchandra and Cindy Marais.
These are exciting changes as the ACDC Express Tuskers make their return to Division 1 next season. Hosking is excited by what is happening at the KZN Inland Cricket Union and looks forward to watching them continue to grow.
"KZN Inland Cricket has grown from strength to strength," Hosking said. "Credit must go to all involved in our small union for punching above our weight and being able to compete on and off the field with much bigger and far longer established unions.
"We’ve earned promotion to Division 1 and I have every faith in the squad put together by the CEO and head coach, to do well in Division 1.
"Thank you to the team, coaching staff, office staff and ground staff. It is due to all your efforts that we as members of the union can hold our heads high and wear the Tuskers badge with pride."
KZN Inland CEO Jason Sathiaseelen recognised the impact that Hosking made in his time as President of the KZN Inland Cricket Union.
"We want to place on record our sincere thanks and appreciation to Scott Hosking for his sterling contribution to the Board and as a wonderful leader of KZN Inland," Sathiaseelen said.
The CEO also highlighted the performances of the Tuskers and the success the team had on the field but also mentioned the significance of the journey that they have been on.
"The past year has been one of progress, resilience and renewed ambition," Sathiaseelen commented. "Despite various challenges, we’ve taken meaningful strides towards strengthening our structures, winning promotion to Division 1, developing our talent pipeline,
and reinforcing our commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
"Winning three trophies in one season is a monumental achievement and has reinforced KZN Inland’s position as a formidable force in domestic cricket."
Heading into the new season, Sathiaseelen has said that the union is putting plans in place to continue to upgrade and develop.
"The union has invested in in upgrading certain key areas at the stadium.
"We have maintained a responsible and transparent approach to financial management. Once again, a clean audit was received, affirming our financial governance systems. For the third consecutive year since our affiliation status was granted, we reflect a significant surplus in our financial statements.
"Despite our successes, we faced many challenges but we look forward to implementing our goals for the new season. We want to thank the outgoing Board members for their contribution to KZN Inland and look forward to welcoming the new members to continue the great work undertaken thus far," he mentioned.
The Tuskers have strengthened their squad for the new season with a number of experience acquisitions along with building their base of young players.
