KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union celebrated another successful year at its recent Annual General Meeting, highlighting continued growth across its stadium operations, professional team and player pipeline and aligned strategies at its Governance Workshop in preparation for the upcoming 2027 ICC Men’s 50 Over World Cup.
The growth and development of Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium remains central to the Union’s long-term strategy, with the venue continuing its transformation into a sustainable, multi-purpose destination ahead of the World Cup.
The Union recorded another strong financial year, driven largely by its efforts to diversify the stadium’s operations and create new revenue streams beyond cricket. The continued evolution of Kingsmead as a multi-purpose venue has strengthened the Union’s business operations and placed it in a strong position as preparations intensify for one of the biggest events on the global sporting calendar.
On the field, the Hollywoodbets Dolphins continued to demonstrate their strength as one of South African cricket’s most productive provincial unions.
The current crop of national representatives underlines the Dolphins’ ability not only to produce Proteas but to develop players capable of making significant, match-winning contributions at international level.
The Dolphins Men enjoyed another competitive domestic season, finishing third in both the CSA 4-Day Series and the T20 Challenge. Their T20 campaign was particularly encouraging, with the side narrowly missing out on a place in the final following a rain-affected play-off.
For the Dolphins Ladies, the season provided valuable lessons and further evidence of the squad's growing potential. They finished fourth in both of their domestic competitions, a commendable achievement in a campaign complicated by national call-ups and injuries. The team enjoyed a particularly strong start to the season and will look to build on those performances in the year ahead.
The Union’s cricket pipeline also continued to expand, with increased participation across a range of development and grassroots programmes throughout the summer. The growth of these programmes remains vital in ensuring KwaZulu-Natal continues to develop a healthy and sustainable pathway for the next generation of players.
The 2026/27 season promises to be another exciting one for cricket supporters in the province, with Australia set to visit Durban for three major international fixtures. Kingsmead will host a men's ODI, a women's ODI and a Test match as the venue continues to showcase its ability to host world-class cricket.
With this in mind, KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union invited CSA’s Company Secretary Viwe Mngambi and Sharks’ Defence Coach Joey Mongalo to share their expertise at the recent Governance Workshop which was focused on alignment and succession planning to ensure the continued progression of KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union for 2027 and beyond.
KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union President Yunus Bobat said he was proud of another successful year for the organisation.
"We are proud of what has been achieved during another successful year for KwaZulu-Natal Cricket," Bobat said. "Congratulations to everyone involved, and particularly to our CEO and his team for continuing to strengthen our operations while keeping the organisation firmly on track in its preparations for the 2027 World Cup.
"I would also like to thank all members of our governing bodies for the voluntary service they provide. Their commitment is vital in ensuring that our practices continue to observe and maintain the highest standards of good governance."
CEO of KZN Cricket Heinrich Strydom said the Union was grateful for the support of its partners and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
"I would like to thank all of our partners who make what we do possible. The support from Hollywoodbets and our entire family of partners have been key to our holistic success. The solid state of our governance under the leadership of our president, Yunus Bobat, continues to provide a sound foundation to build on. We are incredibly proud of our national representatives, the continued growth of our stadium and the strengthening of our business operations.
“Whilst we plan towards the World Cup in 2027 and all the opportunities that it will be bring, there is also a great deal to look forward to in the short-term with the 2026/27 season that is upon us. With a growing player pipeline, successful professional teams, strengthening business operations and a stadium continuing to evolve, KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union enters the new season with strong momentum and an ambitious vision for the future.
Meanwhile, Cricket South Africa (CSA) is delighted to announce a multi-year partnership with Jonsson Workwear as an Official Sponsor of the Proteas and the Official Workwear and Apparel Supplier to CSA.
As part of the sponsorship, Jonsson Workwear's logo will feature on the sleeves of the ODI and T20I playing kits for the Proteas Men’s and Women’s teams.
The partnership will see CSA staff dressed in Jonsson Workwear, ensuring that those working to make world-class performances possible are clothed with purpose-built apparel to meet the demands of their roles.
CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki said, “The CSA family continues to grow, and we couldn’t be prouder to partner with Jonsson Workwear, a homegrown South African industry leader.

The announcement comes as both organisations continue to build momentum. South African cricket is enjoying a period of renewed confidence and success following the Proteas men's ICC World Test Championship victory, while Jonsson Workwear continues to strengthen its presence with an expanding national and international footprint.
At its core, the partnership is built on hard work, excellence and endurance, qualities that have shaped cricket's rich tradition and continue to shape Jonsson Workwear.

The partnership begins with the upcoming tri-series featuring Namibia and Zimbabwe, ahead of a packed summer schedule that includes contests against Australia and England at home.
Also, Titans Cricket and the Rotterdam Dockers T20 Team have announced a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening the financial, commercial and brand development of the Rotterdam-based team while creating new opportunities for collaboration between South African and European cricket.
Under the partnership, Titans Cricket will provide financial management and advisory support to the Rotterdam Dockers, drawing on the organization’s extensive experience in professional cricket administration, financial management and commercial development.
Titans Cricket Chief Executive Officer Dr Jacques Faul, together with the Titans Financial Manager, Samuel Prinsloo, will serve in an advisory capacity to the Rotterdam Dockers.
Other Titans managers who will assist include Pierre Joubert, Commercial Manager; Tshegofatso Rakumakoe, Marketing and Communications Manager; and Janie Marais, HR and Compliance Manager.
The agreement will also see Titans assist the Dockers in identifying and developing potential sponsorship opportunities. The two organizations will actively promote each other through their respective online and digital media platforms and will jointly explore further
opportunities for cooperation.
Faul said the partnership represented an opportunity for Titans Cricket to share its expertise while developing relationships in the growing European cricket market.
“Titans Cricket has always believed in building strong relationships and sharing knowledge within the global cricket community. Rotterdam Dockers provides us with an exciting opportunity to establish a meaningful relationship in European cricket and to assist the
organization in building strong financial and commercial foundations.”
Madhukar Shree, Managing Partner of the Rotterdam Dockers, welcomed the partnership and said that the experience and expertise of Titans Cricket would add significant value to the Dockers as the organization continues to develop.
“We are extremely pleased to establish this partnership with Titans Cricket, an organization with an outstanding record both on and off the field. Having access to Dr Jacques Faul's experience and the Titans' financial team will provide the Rotterdam Dockers with valuable guidance as we strengthen our financial and commercial structures. We also believe this partnership can open new opportunities between European and South African cricket and help us build a strong and sustainable Dockers brand.”
There is already a significant connection between the two organizations through Titans legends Heinrich Klaasen and Faf du Plessis, who are founding members associated with the Rotterdam Dockers.
“Having Heinrich and Faf involved provides a natural connection between the Dockers and the Titans family. Both have played an important role in the history of Titans Cricket and understand the culture and values of our organization,” Faul added.
Shree said the existing relationship added further significance to the partnership.
“The connection through Heinrich Klaasen and Faf du Plessis makes this relationship particularly special for the Dockers. We look forward to building on that connection and creating a partnership that delivers value to both organizations, our commercial partners
and cricket supporters in both markets.”
The partnership extends beyond financial and commercial support. Titans Cricket and Rotterdam Dockers intend to identify opportunities for future cooperation in areas such as cricket development, commercial partnerships, marketing, knowledge sharing and
international networking.
The relationship forms part of Titans Cricket’s broader commitment to developing strategic international partnerships and sharing the expertise that has contributed to its success as one of South Africa’s leading professional cricket organizations.
