Cricket South Africa (CSA), in partnership with KFC, has concluded another successful KFC Mini Cricket National Seminar, bringing together coaches, coordinators, administrators and stakeholders from across the country to strengthen one of South Africa's most impactful grassroots sport development programmes.

The seminar highlighted how the enduring legacy of KFC Mini Cricket continues to translate into meaningful action, creating visible impact in communities while driving inclusive growth by expanding opportunities for children across South Africa.

Over the course of the seminar, delegates participated in a range of interactive workshops, presentations and collaborative discussions centred on coach development, programme innovation, safeguarding, participant experience and growing the footprint of KFC Mini Cricket in communities nationwide.

CSA Executive for Domestic Cricket, David Mokopanele, said the seminar reaffirmed the importance of investing in the people who make the programme possible.

"The continued success of KFC Mini Cricket is a testament to the legacy built by the thousands of volunteers, coordinators and administrators who continue to turn opportunity into action in communities across the country.

"By empowering and supporting those at the forefront of the programme, we are ensuring that its impact remains visible where it matters most, giving every child, regardless of their background, the opportunity to discover cricket while contributing to the inclusive growth of the game.

"Every season, thousands of children take their first steps onto a cricket field because of this programme. While some will go on to represent their schools, unions and even the Proteas, the true success of KFC Mini Cricket lies in creating confident, active young people who develop valuable life skills and a lifelong love for the game."

People, Culture and Purpose Director at KFC Africa, Andra Nel, said: “When KFC began this journey with Cricket South Africa 17 years ago, the programme reached around 40 000 children. Today, more than 130 000 children are experiencing the joy of cricket through KFC Mini Cricket, and we're incredibly proud of what we've built together.

“We know the work is far from done. That's why we're entering the next phase of our partnership with Cricket South Africa, expanding our reach into more schools, supporting more coaches and creating even greater access to the game.

“Every child deserves the chance to discover their potential, fall in love with cricket and benefit from everything sport can teach them. By investing in grassroots cricket, we are ensuring that the programme's legacy is reflected in real action, its impact is felt by more communities and its growth remains inclusive for generations to come."
