Hollywoodbets Kingsmead set to make South African domestic T20 history

Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium will create a piece of South African cricket history on Tuesday when it becomes the first venue in the country to host 100 domestic T20 matches.
The milestone will be reached when the Hollywoodbets Dolphins take on the YesPlay Western Province Cobras in their YesPlay Pro20 Cup Super 8 clash, marking a significant moment for one of South Africa's most established cricket venues.
The journey to 100 matches began on 11 April 2004, when the Dolphins hosted the Eagles in the first domestic T20 match hosted at the Durban venue.
Of the 99 matches played at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead to date, 85 have featured the Dolphins, with the remaining 14 involving clashes between other domestic teams.
The Dolphins have enjoyed considerable success on home soil in the format, recording 44 victories from their 85 appearances. They have suffered 34 defeats, while one match ended in a tie. An important stat to note is that only six produced a no result.
Dolphins CEO Heinrich Strydom said reaching the landmark was a proud moment for the franchise and a reflection of the venue's enduring contribution to South African cricket.
"Reaching 100 domestic T20 matches at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead is a fantastic milestone, not only for the Hollywoodbets Dolphins but for the venue and the city of Durban.
"Since the introduction of domestic T20 cricket in South Africa, Kingsmead has played an important role in the growth and development of the format. It has provided a stage for some outstanding performances, memorable contests and special moments for players and supporters alike.
"We are particularly proud that Kingsmead will become the first ground in the country to reach this milestone. It is a testament to the rich cricketing history of the venue and the continued support of our partners, players, staff and loyal supporters.
"We look forward to celebrating this occasion with our supporters and hope that Tuesday's match will provide another memorable chapter in the history of Hollywoodbets Kingsmead."
The landmark is another significant chapter in the history of Hollywoodbets Kingsmead, which has been a cornerstone of cricket in Durban for generations and continues to play an important role in the domestic game.
As the Dolphins and Western Province Cobras take to the field, they will be part of a historic occasion that celebrates the evolution of domestic T20 cricket in South Africa and the special place Kingsmead holds in that journey.
The match starts at 6pm and tickets are available at www.ticketpros.co.za starting from R50.
