Heavyweight showdowns headline URC semi-finals

The United Rugby Championship Semi-Finals will take place this coming Saturday in Edinburgh and Dublin as teams from Ireland, Scotland and South Africa compete to reach the 2026 Grand Final.

Having won their quarter-finals Glasgow Warriors (1), Leinster (2), DHL Stormers (3) and Vodacom Bulls (4) have been paired off to see who will reach the URC finale in three weeks’ time.

The URC can confirm that Glasgow Warriors will host their remaining play-off fixtures at Scottish Gas Murrayfield in Edinburgh.

As the No 1 ranked team after the league stage, Glasgow Warriors hold home advantage in the semi-finals and then the Grand Final should they progress.

Since Glasgow’s No 1 ranking was confirmed, Scottish Rugby has worked with key stakeholders, alongside Glasgow Warriors and the URC, to ensure Scottish Gas Murrayfield is available on June 20, if required.

The team will play in the Scottish Capital as Warrior’s regular home venue, Scotstoun Stadium, is now under-going preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games while no other venues in Scotland that meet the league’s criteria are available over the coming weeks.

Scottish Gas Murrayfield previously hosted the league (then PRO12) finale 10 years ago when Connacht lifted their first-ever title in professional rugby.

Semi-final 1 will take place in the Scottish capital city of Edinburgh at 2.30pm UK/3.30pm SA time where top ranked Glasgow host the Bulls at Scottish Gas Murrayfield. It is the first meeting of the teams in the knock-out stages since the Scottish side claimed a famous Grand Final victory against the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld two years ago.

Semi-final 2 will take place at 5.30pm UK/6.30pm SA time where defending champions Leinster will welcome the DHL Stormers to the Irish capital of Dublin at Aviva Stadium. The team from Cape Town became the first URC champions in 2022 and this is their first appearance in the semi-finals since 2023.

The kick-off times allow for the possibility of semi-final 1 relying upon extra-time or a place-kicking competition to decide the outcome.

Both games will be live across the UK on Premier Sports and in South Africa on SuperSport.

In Ireland, TG4 will screen semi-final between Leinster and the Stormers with Premier Sports also showing the game and the Glasgow Warriors match-up with the Bulls.

Match official appointments and an update on potential Grand Final venues will be confirmed in due course.
