Girls In Blue set to shine in first home clash of the season

World Sports Betting Western Province Women are brimming with confidence ahead of their first home matches of the season in the Hollywoodbets Pro Series this weekend.

The Girls In Blue will host the Fidelity Titans Women at WSB Newlands for both the Hollywoodbets Pro50 and Pro20 fixtures.

Play on both days is set to start at 10am and will be livestreamed on Cricket South Africa’s YouTube page.

Batter Faye Tunnicliffe remains positive, emphasising the team’s eagerness to perform in their first home outing.

She believes that last week’s 50-over loss to the Garden Route Badgers Women has been taken as a valuable lesson and the team is determined to bounce back and put in a strong performance this weekend.

“I think the team is super fired up, especially after our loss against the Badgers. We never take losing lightly. So, we’re hoping we can bring all the better fundamentals this weekend,” said Tunnicliffe.

“Everyone seems pretty fired up and everyone’s looking fit and healthy for the weekend – I think we’re all just stoked to play.

“The mood in the camp at the moment is that everyone is eager to get going as we don’t take losing lightly.”

Tunnicliffe says the team is excited about playing at home, seeing it as an opportunity to boost their confidence and start the season on a high.

“We know that we all love playing at Newlands, so I think we can expect some fireworks this weekend,” said Tunnicliffe.

“We all just want to really express ourselves and play our games and back our skills. I think we’re all just really stoked to kick our home season off.

“So hopefully there’ll be some support – the more support the better.

“I think we’re all just really excited and hoping to show the Titans some flames – the momentum of winning.”
