There will be more than just bragging rights on the line when the Hollywoodbets Dolphins take on the Hollywoodbets Sharks in the latest edition of the Fin Cup, powered by Hollywoodbets, at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on Sunday.

The unique T20 showdown has quickly established itself as one of KwaZulu-Natal’s most entertaining sporting occasions, bringing together two of the province’s biggest sporting brands for a day of cricket, rugby rivalry and family entertainment.

2025 saw the Sharks claim the bragging rights in a tightly contested affair that went down to the final delivery of the match.

During the match this year, spectators will have the chance to take a clean, one-handed catch from a six hit into the crowd. If successful, they could claim a share of the R50 000 prize pot courtesy of Hollywoodbets.

If there is one eligible winner, they will take the full R50 000, while the prize will be divided between the first five successful catchers should more than one clean catch be completed.

For the Dolphins, however, the focus will be firmly on reclaiming the trophy after the Sharks claimed victory last year.

Dolphins all-rounder Prenelan Subrayen says the unusual nature of the fixture is exactly what makes it such an exciting occasion.

“There is obviously a bit of pride at stake whenever you play against the Sharks, so we definitely want to win the Fin Cup and bring the trophy back to the Dolphins," Subrayen said.

"It is a different kind of game but that is what makes it so much fun. We know there will be plenty of banter, plenty of competition and hopefully a great crowd at Kingsmead.

"We want to put on a good show for everyone who comes out but once we cross that line, we will definitely be playing to win.”

The Fin Cup is about more than the result, with the fixture designed to bring KZN sport fans together and celebrate the strong connection between the province’s cricket and rugby communities.

The day will also feature a Sharks Legends versus Dolphins Legends curtain-raiser, while a number of initiatives will add to the family-focused atmosphere around the match.

With the Dolphins looking to settle the score and the Sharks determined to retain their crown, the stage is set for another entertaining chapter in the Fin Cup rivalry.

And for those sitting in the stands, there is an added incentive to keep both eyes on the ball.
