Dolphins Ladies ready for Lions challenge at Kingsmead

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins Ladies are looking forward to an important weekend of Hollywoodbets Pro Series action when they host the DP World Lions Ladies in a Hollywoodbets Pro50 and Pro20 double-header at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.
With the competition beginning to take shape, the Dolphins will be keen to make the most of home ground advantage against a traditionally strong Lions outfit as they look to build on the progress made during the opening rounds of the season.
The Dolphins currently occupy fourth position on the Hollywoodbets Pro50 log with five points from two matches, while the Lions are third with seven points from three outings.
In the Pro20 competition, the Dolphins are better placed in third position with five points from two matches. The Lions sit fifth with two points from three matches, making Sunday's encounter an important opportunity for the Durban side to consolidate their position in the standings.
Dolphins head coach Angelique Taai believes the team's start to the campaign has been a mixed one in terms of results, but there are a number of encouraging signs for the coach.
"It has been a bit of a mixed bag of results but I am happy with the strides the ladies have made on and off the field as individuals to impact the team performance," Taai said.
The Dolphins will be hoping that their familiarity with conditions at Kingsmead, coupled with the backing of their home supporters, can provide an advantage against a Lions side travelling from the Highveld.
"It is always an advantage to play a Highveld team at home and it's always important that the players get that additional support from their families and friends etc.," Taai added.
The break between fixtures has also provided the Dolphins with an opportunity to regroup and prepare for what promises to be a challenging weekend.
The period without competitive action has given the Dolphins an opportunity to take stock of their season so far and ensure the squad is well positioned for the challenges ahead. Away from the demands of match preparation, the players have also been able to reconnect with their club environments and continue developing their individual games.
Taai believes the break has been beneficial in allowing the group to reset before turning its attention to a crucial weekend against the Lions.
"The ladies had some active rest, focusing on fitness testing/screening. It also gave them the time to give back to their communities by playing club cricket and working on their individual performance. Last two weeks we have been in full swing to prep for our Hollywoodbets Pro50 and Pro20 fixture versus DP World Lions," Taai explained.
While the results remain important, the Dolphins coach is equally focused on developing a stronger collective unit, with the individual growth of the players ultimately benefiting the team's performances.
"I am happy and excited to see what lies ahead for this group. They are putting in the hard yards and just working on being stronger as a unit on and off the field by improving as individuals," she said.
With the Dolphins sitting inside the top four in both competitions, this weekend represents a valuable opportunity to strengthen their position and continue building momentum as the season progresses.
The Hollywoodbets Dolphins Ladies take on the DP World Lions Ladies in the Hollywoodbets Pro50 on Saturday, followed by the Pro20 encounter on Sunday. Both matches take place at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium, with play scheduled to begin at 9.30am.
