Prenelan Subrayen recorded a five-for as the Hollywoodbets Dolphins shot to the top of Pool B in the YesPlay Pro20 Cup, following a convincing victory over Wenbro Impalas on Sunday afternoon.

Impalas won the toss at the Polokwane Cricket Club and chose to bat first but soon found themselves under pressure with both openers Trevor Trenoweth and Ernest Kemm dismissed in just the third over of the match with Subrayen clean bowling the pair.

Reynard van Tonder top scored for the hosts with 22 in a timid batting display against a Division 1 side as Subrayen found three more wickets of Christoffel Klijnhans, Atwell Mokgoloboto, and Irvin Modimokoane as they restricted Impalas to a measly 91 all out.

In reply the Dolphins’ Romashan Pillay hit an unbeaten half century with Hanu Viljoen supporting him with his 38* as the visitors chased down the modest total in just 13 overs.

In Pietermaritzburg, Dafabet Boland beat Kaneez Tuskers by 63 runs after they chose to bat and posted 187 in their 20 overs.

Lehan Botha top scored with 54 followed by Gavin Kaplan’s 38 to give the visitors a defendable total.

Tuskers lost two early wickets of Jack Lees and Ludwig Kaestner both for none as they began the chase. Gareth Dukes and Cameron Dean Shekleton tried to steady the innings with 27 and 39 but the rest of the order struggled with the willow until eventually being bowled out for 124.

CSA High-Performance side were looking for their first win of the competition when they came across YesPlay Cobras at Newlands and elected to bat first, with Adnaan Lagadien scoring a quick-fire 106 from just 58 deliveries.

An unbeaten 45 from Jason Rowles also contributed to a decent 194/4 total.

The home side’s Joshua van Heerden hit 88 not out to go with Edward Moore’s 49 to give them something to shout about in their chase but still faced a nervy finish with the match decided in the very last over as the Cobras recorded their second win in three matches.

Meanwhile the match between Dafabet Warriors and DP World Lions in Gqeberha was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to inclement weather.

YesPlay Pro20 Cup continues on Monday with only one fixture scheduled, as Wenbro Impalas face fellow Division 2 side Garden Route Badgers.
