The Sunshine Tour will return to the Euphoria Golf & Lifestyle Estate this October for the eighth edition of the Limpopo Championship, one of the province’s premier sporting events.

The R2.5-million tournament is expected to feature another mix of established Sunshine Tour champions and rising stars competing for glory from 1-4 October, 2026.

South Africa’s Pieter Moolman is the defending champion of a tournament where he hopes to make history as only the second player to ever be able to defend his title, following JC Ritchie in 2019 and 2020.

The list of entries also features nine of the top 10 on the current Sunshine Tour Courier Guy Order of Merit, including leader Samuel Simpson.

The next generation of South African golf talent will also be on show, with South African Amateur champion Judd Sundelson and Stefan Jacobs, a former Nedbank Junior Challenge winner, being granted invitations to the 2026 Limpopo Championship.

And the Sunshine Tour’s strong pathway into Africa will see golfers from Zimbabwe, Eswatini and Kenya compete in this event, further strengthening Limpopo Tourism’s message as a premier tourist destination throughout Africa.

It coincides perfectly with Limpopo as the provincial host of September’s National Tourism Month 2026, which further showcases Limpopo’s rich tourism offerings, cultural heritage and investment potential, while attracting visitors and supporting tourism businesses and local economies.

Limpopo also recently hosted the Africa Tourism Leadership Forum and Awards (ATLF) from 2-4 September 2026, which brought tourism leaders, industry stakeholders and investors to the province, elevating its status as the gateway to Africa.

And the Limpopo Investment Conference on 15 October 2026 will showcase the province’s investment opportunities and reinforce its position as a destination that is open for business, ready for investment and ready to welcome the world.

“The Limpopo Tourism Agency continues to embrace the impact of the Limpopo Championship towards socio-economic development. Sport tourism remains one of the agency’s pillars as it attracts direct investment, economic growth and promotes tourism,” said Freddy Greaver, Chairperson of the Limpopo Tourism Agency.

“The partnership with the Limpopo Tourism Agency is an important one as we continue to work together to showcase South Africa, and in this case the cultural diversity and natural beauty of Limpopo, to a wider audience. The Limpopo Championship is now well established as a lifestyle and entertainment spectacle offering a line-up of activities for spectators, visitors and guests to enjoy.”

Since its inception in 2019, the Limpopo Championship has played a pivotal role in supporting the Sunshine Tour’s message that “Greatness Begins Here”.

Amongst its former champions and leading title contenders are South African professionals who now compete on the HotelPlanner Tour and DP World Tour.

“The Sunshine Tour is a Tour of opportunity, and the Limpopo Championship reflects this. It has been a crucial link in the careers of so many of our Sunshine Tour professionals, and the blend of this year’s field between established winners, rising stars and even an impressive contingent of amateurs will be a true showcase of the depth of talent on our Tour,” said Thomas Abt, Commissioner of the Sunshine Tour.

“The partnership with Limpopo Tourism is an important one as we continue to work together to showcase South Africa and in this case the cultural diversity and natural beauty of Limpopo, to a wider audience.”
