CSA announces SA Emerging squads for Bangladesh inbound tour

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced the SA Emerging Women’s and Men’s squads that will take on Bangladesh Emerging in an all-format inbound tour to be held across Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal from 29 July to 26 August, following the conclusion of this year’s CSA Emerging Academy.

The SA Emerging Women’s squad includes seven Proteas Women-capped players: Faye Tunnicliffe, Nondumiso Shangase, Eliz-Mari Marx, Karabo Meso, Seshnie Naidu, Miané Smit and Leah Jones, who join a group of South Africa’s rising female talents that have impressed at SA Under-19 and domestic level.

The SA Emerging Men’s 20-player squad has been split across the 50-over and four-day formats. Muhammad Manack, Valentine Kitime, Andile Simelane, Schalk Engelbrecht and Gideon Peters will feature exclusively in the red-ball matches, while Gomolemo Phiri, Keagan Lion-Cachet, Andile Mogokane, Janco Smit and Joshua Breed will focus on the 50-over format. The remainder of the squad will be available for both formats.

The SA Emerging Women will begin the tour against their Bangladeshi counterparts with a three-match 50-over series before contesting three T20 matches. The fixtures will be played at the Chatsworth Oval in Durban and the Pietermaritzburg Oval between 29 July and 11 August.

Meanwhile, the SA Emerging Men will begin their campaign with a 50-over Tri-series featuring Bangladesh Emerging and a University Sport South Africa (USSA) XI. The competition gets underway on 30 July, with the final scheduled for 12 August in Tshwane.

The winter tour will conclude with a two-match four-day series between SA Emerging and Bangladesh Emerging from 16-26 August, with the matches taking place at JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom and Willowmoore Park in Benoni, respectively.
