Boland Rugby mourns the passing of Robert Goff

Boland Rugby (Pty) Ltd is deeply saddened by the passing of Robert Goff, a valued member of the Board of Directors and an esteemed colleague whose contribution to the organisation will be remembered with gratitude and respect.

Goff has served as a director of Boland Rugby (Pty) Ltd since October 2023, following the establishment of the company's new governance structure. As one of the representatives of African Rainbow Capital (ARC)/Bumbleboar on the Boland Rugby Board, he brought a wealth of experience, sound judgement and unwavering professionalism to the organisation.

Throughout his tenure, Goff played a significant role in strengthening the company's governance, particularly in matters relating to human resources.

His guidance and expertise were instrumental in several key decisions, including chairing the committee responsible for appointing Sanlam Boland Kavaliers head coach, Hawies Fourie.

His measured leadership and commitment to ensuring robust governance processes earned him the respect of fellow directors, management and stakeholders alike.

Chief Executive Officer of Boland Rugby (Pty) Ltd, Quintin van Rooyen, paid tribute to Goff's contribution to the organisation.

"Robert was an exceptional professional and a trusted advisor whose wisdom and integrity made a lasting impact on Boland Rugby," Van Rooyen said. "He approached every discussion with sincerity, respect and a genuine desire to see the organisation succeed.

Beyond his professional expertise, he was a humble and approachable individual who cared deeply about people. His contribution to our journey will not be forgotten and he will be greatly missed."

Chairman of the Board, Stefan Crouse, described Goff as a director who embodied principled leadership: "Robert's service on the Board was characterised by diligence, integrity and an unwavering commitment to good governance," Crouse added.

"He played an important role in helping shape key decisions during a significant period in Boland Rugby's history. His calm counsel, thoughtful perspective, and willingness to serve the organisation's best interests made him an invaluable colleague and friend.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, colleagues and everyone at African Rainbow Capital during this difficult time."

The Board of Directors, management, staff, sponsors, stakeholders, players, and the wider Boland Rugby family extend their heartfelt condolences to Goff's family, loved ones, colleagues at African Rainbow Capital and all those whose lives he touched.
