Goldrush Boland secured their first win in the 2025/26 1-Day Cup with a composed victory over the Moothee Ram Tuskers at Boland Park in Paarl on Wednesday, while the DP World Lions and NWU North West Dragons shared the points in Potchefstroom.

Playing in familiar home conditions, Boland delivered a balanced performance with both bat and ball to register an important early season result in the Division 1 competition.

After winning the toss, Boland set the tone with a disciplined batting effort that ensured the hosts posted a competitive total of 224/9 on a surface that offered some assistance for the bowlers.

The foundation of the innings was built through steady partnerships rather than outright dominance, allowing Boland to maintain scoreboard pressure throughout the middle overs.

The home side had to rely heavily on 76 of 73 balls from Ferisco Adams while Clyde Reeves-Fortuin made 40 at the top of the order.

Tuskers bowlers shared the wickets with Hardus Viljoen, Sean Whitehead, Malcolm Nofal and Wayne Parnell picking up two wickets each.

In response, the Tuskers struggled to build sustained partnerships as Boland’s bowling attack applied consistent pressure. Early wickets dented the visitors’ chase and forced them onto the back foot for much of the innings.

There weren't too many contributions with the bat from the Tuskers. Sean Gilson and Michael Erlank both made 34 while Parnell made 32 as the Tuskers were bowled out for 181.

Boland’s seamers were particularly effective with the new ball, extracting movement and making scoring difficult. With the required rate climbing, the Tuskers were forced into riskier strokes, which only played further into the hands of the home attack.

Glenton Stuurman was the pick of the Boland bowlers bagging 4/31 while Yves Kamanzi took 3/35.

The disciplined bowling display ensured Boland kept control of the contest through the middle overs before closing out the victory in comfortable fashion.

The result gives Boland valuable momentum in the early stages of the competition, while the Tuskers will be left searching for answers after failing to convert moments of promise into a sustained challenge.

Unfortunately, the other match that was scheduled for Wednesday was abandoned after the DP World Lions were 229/3 batting first against the NWU Dragons at the JB Marks Oval.

Zubayr Hamza was in full control and was 115 not out when the rain came down in Potchefstroom. Alongside Hamza was Wiaan Mulder who was unbeaten on 50 as the pair combined for an undefeated partnership of 111.

Spinner Caleb Saleka was the pick of the bowlers for the Dragons when the rain came. He had picked up 1/46 from eight overs.

Unfortunately, the players couldn't return to the field and the match was abandoned with both sides picking up two points each.

On Tuesday, the Dafabet Warriors held their nerve to secure a five-wicket victory over WSB Western Province in their 1-Day Cup encounter, chasing down a competitive target with 15 balls to spare.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl, the Warriors restricted World Sports Betting Western Province to 244/7 in their 50 overs. Kyle Verreynne anchored the innings with a patient 72, while Josh Breed added late impetus with an unbeaten 64. The Warriors’ attack was led by Kerwin Mungroo, Aphiwe Mnyanda, and Thomas Kaber, who claimed two wickets apiece.

In reply, the Warriors recovered well from early wickets thanks to a composed knock from Senuran Muthusamy, who struck 61 off 54 balls to earn the Player of the Match award.

He was well supported by Jean du Plessis (46*), before Patrick Kruger finished the job with an aggressive unbeaten 40 to guide the visitors to 245/5 in 47.3 overs.
