Fans across the Pacific and beyond can get their first taste of Super Rugby in 2025 as pre-season fixtures kick off this week.
Today, the Fijian Drua will line up against Major League Rugby’s RFCLA, marking Super Rugby Pacific’s first-ever crossover with the US competition.
Taking place at the Drua’s fortress, Churchill Park in Lautoka, the match will also be used to raise funds for the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires.
Those wanting a glimpse of the NSW Waratahs under new coach Dan McKellar can do so for free at Eric Tweedale Stadium in Sydney on Saturday as they take on NSW Pacifica.
The match will also be livestreamed on nswrugbytv.com.au and is part of a triple-header which will also see the Waratahs’ U20s and Super Rugby Women’s sides in action.
Rural Canterbury has jumped at the opportunity to see the Crusaders in their backyard the following weekend, with the ‘sold out’ sign already going up at Kirwee Rugby Football club for the January 31st game against the defending champion Blues.
Other New Zealand regions to host Super Rugby Pacific pre-season matches include New Plymouth, Invercargill, Pukekohe and Wainuiomata.
Moana Pasifika will welcome the Highlanders to their newly minted home base, North Harbour Stadium, and play their first ever match in South Auckland.
The Queensland Reds fly to the UK on Friday, with games against English premiership team Bristol Bears and Irish province Ulster on the agenda.
The trip to Ulster will be a homecoming of sorts for head coach Les Kiss, who was the club's Director of Rugby between 2015 and 2018.
Meanwhile the NSW town of Bowral will be treated to a clash between the Waratahs and ACT Brumbies, who will then return to Canberra to face the Western Force.
