Round 2 notes
Round 2 of 4, with 18 clubs in three pools of six. The four highest-ranked clubs in each pool qualify for the knockout stage.
Edinburgh Rugby looking to use their home advantage to take their first win of the Pool stages and get off the bottom of Pool 3 as they host an in-form Aviron Bayonnais at Hive Stadium for the opening match of Round 2. Aviron Bayonnais are currently third in Pool 3.
Montpellier Hérault Rugby and Ospreys are the only teams with a win each ahead of their clash to meet in Round 2 at the GGL Stadium. Ospreys are currently top of Pool 2 after a home-win last weekend against the Emirates Lions, while Montpellier Hérault Rugby are third after a promising start to their competition away at Dragons RFC.
The Tbillisi-based Black Lion are on the hunt for their second win after last weekend’s impressive opener and first home EPCR Challenge Cup win, as they travel to meet the Scarlets at Parc y Scarlets.
EPCR Challenge Cup debutants RC Vannes are looking for their first win as they take on Pool 3 table-toppers Gloucester Rugby.
Impressive against Zebre Parma last weekend, Connacht Rugby secured the bonus point to go top of Pool 1. They’ll travel to the south of France on take on USAP.
Cardiff Rugby welcome the Toyota Cheetahs to Wales; Section Paloise will head to south Africa to take on Emirates Lions; and Zebre Parma host Lyon Olympique Universitaire in Italy. All three home clubs are in pursuit of their first Pool stage win.
Newcastle Falcons and Dragons RFC both eye their first Pool stage win when they meet on Sunday, 15 December at Kingston Park.
